Dear Friends and Partners of HCAW,
We are pleased to update you on Gods progress through His Church at Work. We have detailed some highlights below to give you more insight into Gods activity. We are blessed to see Gods favor flowing as we implant our unique church process in local congregations across the nation. We are seeing great fruit and it is our privilege to impart what God has entrusted to us as we empower local churches with this intentional WorkLife Discipleship and Outreach strategy that becomes seamlessly infused into the DNA of a churchs ministry plan. In essence we are helping local congregations shepherd the scattered church effectively to impact the marketplace.
Here to serve you and your church,
Doug Spada, Founder - His Church at Work

LOCAL CONGREGATION BUILDS CHURCH-WIDE WORKLIFE MINISTRY
Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama has announced plans to launch a congregation-wide WorkLife ministry using the consulting services and WorkLife discipleship tools of His Church at Work (HCAW). WorkLife ministry equips and commissions church members to be ministers in their individual workplaces. Frazer joins a growing number of churches across America who are discovering the desire of their members to have support to integrate their faith during their daily work.
Pat McWhorter, a member of Frazer, has been the catalyst to make Frazer's WorkLife ministry a reality. Pat had an increasing desire to assist his church in helping its members understand the applications of their faith to their ongoing work experiences. Pat attended an HCAW workshop where he learned there was an organization to consult with churches to implement WorkLife ministries, complete with a collection of ready-to-use tools available. So Pat became the Frazer WorkLife champion and solicited the help of Frazer's Preaching Pastor, John Schmidt, and Bob Ewell, Minister of Discipleship.
John and Bob had long been aware of the need to equip, encourage, affirm and commission church members in their WorkLife from their own experiences in the workplace prior to entering vocational ministry. They see the church as a sending place and not just a gathering place. They suggested that the best way to launch the new WorkLife ministry would be with a significant event. Pat put his best lobbying skills to work (he is a professional lobbyist) and persuaded Henry Blackaby, author of the best-selling book, Experiencing God, to help Frazer launch the new WorkLife ministry with a workplace ministers commissioning service on Sunday night, January 23, 2005, at 6:00pm in Frazer's Main Sanctuary. HCAW was birthed at Journey Community Church in San Diego, CA by Journey member Doug Spada. Doug, like Pat McWhorter, longed to have his church intentionally support him to walk well with God during his work day. So Doug, being an entrepreneur, set out to make that longing a reality. As the WorkLife ministry developed at Journey Community Church the testimonies started to reveal what Doug knew in his heart. The church can encourage and affirm members with spiritual support while they are in the workplace.
Launch support from HCAW enables churches to engage 35% or more of the entire congregation in WorkLife ministries within the first few months. These numbers only confirm the latent demand members feel for the church-based support of their WorkLife. For example, Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN (another HCAW launch) has over 1700 of its 5000 members growing in their WorkLife ministry. It is anticipated that Frazer will engage several thousand members at the commission service.
Key Christian leaders have also affirmed the dawn of WorkLife ministries within churches. George Barna said "Workplace ministry will be one of the core future innovations in church ministry." Franklin Graham said "God has begun an evangelism movement in the workplace that has the potential to transform our society as we know it." Henry Blackaby has said "I've never seen the activity of God this deeply in the work community as I do right now."
